Some people suggest using nails. This is not a bad idea if you want something that will stay up year after year to hang your lights on. However, if you are using nails, be sure they are galvanized so they don’t rust. You don’t want to have rust streaks down your fascia or siding. On areas that are not exposed much to the weather there are several alternatives made by 3M for sticky hooks that can be easily removed without damage to your siding or trim. Shop around, there are lots of choices for Christmas light accessories such as light clips, timers, and extension cords.
